Division of Student Affairs Sustains the Tradition of Offering Alms during the Buddhist Lent Festival 2023

The Division of Student Affairs joins in continuing Thai traditions. Organize candle-offering activities. This event took place on Monday, August 15, 2023, and was graced by the esteemed presence of Associate Professor Dr. Supakorn Pongbangpho, President of the University of Phayao, who chaired the proceedings. Alongside university executives, staff members, and students, the Division of Student Affairs conducted the ritualistic offering of alms and traditional Thai items, including food and requisites, to Buddhist monks. It also encourages personnel and students to participate in Thai traditions. Cultivate Thai national values and culture, as well as support activities that promote Thainess, in order to develop students and people who have Thai culture. The ceremonial act of offering alms was conducted across seven temples: Wat Mo Kaeng Thong, Wat Ban So, Wat Dong Phra Chao, Wat Rattana Wanaram, Wat Si Umong, Phra That Chom Thong Ancient Ruins, and Wat Analayo. The offering of candles is an ancient tradition that has been carried on for a long time when the Buddhist Lent season is approaching. All monks must stay in their abode for three months. Therefore, a merit-making ceremony was held when the candles were presented to the monks. You will have a place to worship in front of the principal Buddha image in the Ubosot.
